MALAGUETA

Our Double Deluxe Malagueta room pays tribute to one of the spices that came from Central and South Africa at the time of the Discoveries.

In our boutique hotel in the center of Porto, Torel 1884 Suites & Apartments, we represent the chili (malagueta, in Portuguese) in one of our suites with a patio, double bed and the largest bathtub in the palace, through a light, clean and refined space.

White is the main color of the room. However, the strong use of greens in this hotel room, such as the velvet curtains, the bench, and the handles, is a reference to the stem of the chili pepper. The red of this spice is, in this suite, represented through the dark red and burgundy tones used in the bathroom.

Chilli peppers come from South America and, for this reason, prefer a warm place with lots of sun.

In Angola, Mozambique, and Portugal, they are called “malagueta”, the largest; and “Piri Piri”, the smallest fruits.

Typically, they are used dried to season meat.
