Bartolomeu Bistro & Wine

“Good food is almost always simple food”

Part of the Torel 1884 Suites & Apartments, a luxury boutique hotel that launched in February 2019, right in the heart of Porto.

Bartolomeu Dias, Portuguese navigator of the 15th century, inspired his name to the best Bistro & Wine in Porto. A tribute to the great Portuguese navigator who roamed distant lands and seas. A chic and relaxed place to enjoy good wine, good food, and good conversation.

Our Menu

Everything revolves around wine, which is celebrated with a prominent place on the menu made up of Portuguese labels.

The only exception is Champagne, which we include in our food offerings. As you might expect, it is designed to pair with wine and reflects Anthony Bourdain’s belief that “good food is, most of the time, almost always, simple food.”

Our concept is a charming bistro offering French cuisine crafted with fresh Portuguese ingredients and, whenever possible, sourced from local producers. We invite you to savor our dishes and don’t miss the opportunity to experience our exclusive wine cellar, available for private dinners.

The Inspiration

Bartolomeu Dias

In 1488, Bartolomeu was the first explorer to navigate the southern tip of Africa, setting the route from Europe to Asia, and the first European to land in what is now South Africa.

Bartolomeu called the Cape “Cape of Storms”, but King John II of Portugal later renamed it “Cape of Good Hope”.
