Salomão

In our boutique hotel in the center of Porto, the Suite Junior Deluxe Salomão is inspired by the adventure story “A Viagem”, by José Saramago.

It is a reference to the unusual wedding gift that King João III of Portugal offered to Archduke Maximilian of Austria: an elephant named Salomão, who traveled from Portugal to Vienna.

In our luxury hotel Torel 1884 Suites & Apartments in Porto, the elephant, a characteristic animal of Africa, is represented through beige and gray tones.

The headboard with elephant ears, the fabric with the texture of his skin, the dresser handles with the shape of his head, and, finally, the shelves filled with books about Salomão are also a representation of this elephant in the suite.

This is the only room in the Junior Deluxe Suite category at Torel 1884 Suites & Apartments.

Salomão – o Elefante – was one of the wedding gifts of Maximilian II, Archduke of Austria.

The story is told in the “Viagem do Elefante” by the Portuguese writer José Saramago. The novel portrays the departure of the Indian pachyderm Salomão, from Belém, Lisbon, to Austria, at the request of King João III.
